About Us

Business Networking International (BNI)

BNI is is the largest professional business networking organization in the world.  Its primary purpose is to exchange qualified business referrals.

It was founded in 1985 by Dr. Ivan Misner for the primary purpose of building powerful referral networks.

Business Networking International (BNI) presently has over 5,000 chapters throughout every populated continent in the world.  Last year, members of BNI passed over 4.9 million referrals which generated almost $1.9 billion (U.S.) worth of business for each other.

What makes BNI unique is that it allows only one person,
per profession, to join a chapter.

Thus, once you’ve joined, none of your competitors can participate.

BNI’s philosophy is “Givers Gain” – members are expected to focus on giving referrals to other members to build relationships and receive referrals in return.

Givers Gain is the belief that when business people set goals to help others and honestly work to achieve these goals, they usually gained the most out of the experience – through a reciprocal benefit.

BNI draws a distinction between a “referral” and a “lead.”  A lead is contact information for a prospect for a member’s business, while a referral occurs only when the prospect has already expressed interest in the business in question, and is ready to be contacted by the referred BNI member.
